  • Board Member
    A HEDC board member oversees business and affairs and actively participates in program development and evaluation for economic and community development. Qualifications: Good community connections Demonstrated leadership skills Willingness to attend board meetings Active involvement in planning and policies Resides or works in the Harrisburg School District
  • Developer
    Drafting Investment Committee policies for the organization Oversee short and long-term investments including all real property Review and provide recommendations to the board on the purchase or sale of property Reportins investment developments to the Board or Executive Committee
  • Finance
    Drafting Finance Committee policies for the organization Works with staff to design financial reports and ensure that reports are accurate and timely Prepares and reviews annual budgets Reports to the board any financial irregularities, concerns, opportunities Recommends financial guidelines to the board (such as to establish a reserve fund or to obtain a line of credit for a specified amount) Recommends selection of a bookkeeper, tax preparer, auditor or any other financial professional Advises the executive director and other appropriate staff on financial priorities and information systems, depending on committee member expertise.
  • Investor Relations
    Drafts Investor Relations Committee policies for the organization Monitors delivery of the Heart of Harrisburg plan and progress toward its goals and objectives and hold volunteer leadership and professional staff accountable for successful program implementation. Provides guidance and counsel to HEDC board and staff regarding economic development strategy, tactics, and course corrections as conditions dictate. Ensures effective reporting and communications to all investors, including regular investor meetings (quarterly, biannually, or annually) Serves as spokespeople and representatives of Heart of Harrisburg for PR purposes and with prospects, partners, and elected officials. Provides continuity of program oversight as volunteer leadership and / or staff evolves / changes. Lead the process of planning for subsequent multi-year initiatives and long-term community visioning.
  • Marketing
    • Identifies possible marketing opportunities for the organization • Works with staff to establish a marketing plan that manages publications, brochures, flyers, websites, special events, direct mail, etc. • Provides feedback on marketing strategies and tools, including communications plans, materials, media strategy, and social media
